Yes...I'm working!

Each day I attempt to do a little something to try to get ahead. Let's face it, that will never happen but it sounds nice doesn't it? ;) As I've mentioned in the past, I have an amazing way of starting a project, not finishing and moving on to something else. I'm not exactly sure why I do this...but I do! I'm guilty once again because I've put other projects aside to work on my son's birthday book. Liam will be two in August and I've yet to finish his first birthday! While at CKC (Creating Keepsakes Convention) last summer in PA, I purchased a really cool banner album from The Button Farm. Angela put together the basics and I sort of ran with it. Each "page" is chipboard, some have letters on them (spelling "BIRTHDAY"), some have fun chipboard shapes and others have been signed by the party guests. I'm currently adding photos to this project which is proving to be a challenge! Each page is a triangle and although my first "vision" was to have triangular photos, that's not as easy as it seems. Why add a photo if an entire section is cut out? So, I went square and rectangular, working with what I have. Although it may seem odd, it's actually working out nicely, giving me a more fun, angular book! Here's what I have so far...

In addition to this, and the many projects I have on the backburner, I've decided to do work on something new. This is different however and I'm sort of hoping I'll get others to join me! It's my "9/11" project and you can read all about it here...Creative Reflections of 9/11

Sande said...: I just wanted to let you know you are not alone. I "suffer" from the same disorder. I start and never complete a project. Its well known in our family I am the "Queen of Incomplete."

Funny story. Many years ago, my now ex and I were in the lawyers office typing up the loose ends of divorce. The lawyer, just had to ask my ex, one more time what was his reason for the divorce. He looked at me, looked at the lawyer and said, she drives me insane, "she never finishes anything"..the lawyer had a good laugh. But the ex was correct. I had a huge walk in closet where I kept all projects and the ex took them out and counted them. He stopped when he reached 158...he just couldn't understand how one person could do that. lol.

I have no excuses for not completing projects...I just move from one to another and forget about the path I left behind.

Why Scrapronicity?

"Synchronicity" can be described as the coincidental occurrence of events. When I was a kid I saved everything that had meaning to me in a blue shoebox...ticket stubs, candy wrappers, empty tubes of Lipsmackers. I even have a response to a letter I wrote to one of the Iranian hostages in the 80's. All of these things found their way inside this box. In 1982, when I was twelve, I was given a large, blank scrapbook and it in I taped (eww, TAPE!) the $2 bill given to me by my grandma, a deflated balloon from summer camp, playbills, school play tickets, etc. In 1987 and 1988 I traveled to Spain and saved every metro ticket, wrapper, chip bag, brochure, etc. and placed it all in a book. Every momento I had ever kept was dated with a description. It wasn't until 2001 when I had my daughter that my hard-core scrapping addiction began. I realized that year that I may not have concentrated on paper and embellishments in the past, but I WAS a scrapper all along! This hobby that I love so much, the creative outlet it gives me, the thrill I get when a project is finished, actually began in a blue shoebox when I was just a child. While I know this doesn't truly describe what synchronicity is, the name "Synchronicity" for me (aside from paying homage to my favorite group, The Police) really hits the eyelet right on it's colorful head!
